{7}This is the tale of Endrick and Elandra,
{7}the most valiant duo ever to tread the
{7}dusty byways of Mysteria. "Realms of
{7}Chaos" chronicles one of their greatest
{7}adventures, wherein they save the land
{7}from the dark and evil shadow that
{7}engulfed it. Listen well to my tale...

{4}SWORDS AND SORCERY
{7}At an early age, Elandra showed a true
{7}talent for magic, and became a pupil
{7}of the arcane arts. The brawny Endrick,
{7}however, found he was better suited to
{7}swordplay and the martial arts.{6}INTRODUCTION{4}EARLY TRAINING
{7}The brother and sister parted, each
{7}attending the best academies of their
{7}chosen trades. After several years of
{7}intense training, they had each become
{7}skilled masters of their art.

{4}HEROES FOR HIRE
{7}Their training complete, Endrick and
{7}Elandra reunited. Their skills in might
{7}and magic complemented one another,
{7}and over the years they became the
{7}most widely respected team of heroes
{7}for hire in all of Mysteria.{6}INTRODUCTION{4}THE DARK SHADOW
{7}Inexplicably, over a period of many
{7}years, a creeping darkness spread
{7}over Mysteria. The Realms of the
{7}Mryaal, a proud race of cat people,
{7}and the Goblins, a secretive race of
{7}cave dwellers, cut off all ties with
{7}the Realm of the Humans.

{4}A REALM UNDER SIEGE
{7}During this time, an alien race of
{7}strange, violent beings attacked the
{7}Human Realm. The Humans rose to defend
{7}their homes, and were able to stave off
{7}the attackers. Everyone knew, however,
{7}that the beasts would return in time...{6}INTRODUCTION{4}UNDERTAKING THE QUEST
{7}The siblings agreed to search for the
{7}source of the evil shadow ruining their
{7}world, and destroy it if at all possible.
{7}The first leg of their quest was to
{7}visit the Realms of the Mryaal and the
{7}Goblins. Perhaps the Humans' former
{7}allies had information that would lead
{7}them to the salvation of their homes.

{4}ON WITH THE ADVENTURE!
{7}And thus did Endrick and Elandra set
{7}off to perform brave deeds in a world

{7}"Realms of Chaos" is an exciting

{7}in the fantastic world of Mysteria. You

{7}During your quest, you have both heroes
{7}at your disposal, each with their own
{7}abilities, and you can switch between
{7}them during the action! If one is having
{7}problems clearing an area, or has taken

{7}Elandra begins the adventure as the
{7}weaker character, but with the range
{7}and speed of her fireballs, as well
{7}as her lighter, more mobile body,
{7}she has the potential to exceed even
{7}her brother's powerful abilities!{6}THE MENU FUNCTIONS{4}MAIN MENU (ESC)
{7}This can be accessed both during the
{7}main game and the title opening. It
{7}allows you to choose from a variety
{7}of menus and options. Use the arrow
{7}keys to highlight an option, then
{7}press ENTER to select.

{4}SAVE/LOAD A GAME (F2/F3)
{7}You can save your game at any point
{7}within a level. You may have up to
{7}eight different saved games. When you
{7}save, you will be asked to type in a
{7}file description. Be sure to save your
{7}game often!{6}MORE MENU FUNCTIONS{4}SOUND VOLUME (F4)
{7}Different sound cards have different
{7}amplification, so use this option to
{7}adjust the volumes of the sound
{7}effects or music until they are each
{7}at a level you find comfortable.

{4}TOGGLE DISPLAY (F5)
{7}This allows you to toggle the Health
{7}Point and Mana Gem display in the
{7}upper left corner of the screen.

{4}HEROES' STATUS (F6)(TAB)
{7}This will show you your score, the
{7}current level, each hero's health,
{7}and the mana gems you've collected.{6}MORE MENU FUNCTIONS{4}QUICKSAVE (F8)
{7}This will save your game using
{7}the file and description of the
{7}last game you saved or loaded.

{4}QUICKLOAD (F9)
{7}This loads the last game saved
{7}or loaded. NOTE: Neither of the
{7}"Quick" functions are available
{7}in a menu.

{4}QUIT TO DOS (F10)
{7}Nothing unusual here. Note that
{7}during a game you also have the
{7}option to quit to the title.{6}MORE MENU FUNCTIONS{4}TOGGLE MESSAGES
{7}You can toggle the messages that
{7}appear in the lower left corner.

{4}TOGGLE BLOOD
{7}This game allows you to turn the
{7}bloody effects on or off. If a blood
{7}password has been instituted, you
{7}will be asked to enter the password
{7}before the blood will be switched.

{4}BLOOD PASSWORD
{7}This feature allows you to lock out the
{7}bloody effects if you so desire. This
{7}is useful if you are a concerned parent
{7}or if you live in one of those states.{6}MOVEMENT{7}You must control Endrick and Elandra
{7}as they explore the beautiful and
{7}often dangerous Realms of Mysteria.

{4}Left/Right Arrow
{7}Move your character left or right.
{7}You can also move while crouching.

{4}Up Arrow
{7}Grab and climb vines or chains.
{7}Elandra aims her fire upward.

{4}Down Arrow
{7}Crouch. Elandra aims her fire
{7}downward, unless she's crouched.

{7}Fire the character's weapon.
{7}Endrick is armed with a sword,
{7}while Elandra throws fireballs.

{4}CTRL
{7}Character jumps. Hold the button
{7}down longer to jump higher.

{7}Press to change from Endrick to
{7}Elandra or back again.

{4}RIGHT SHIFT
{7}Hold right shift, and press up or
{7}down to look up or down.{6}THE ON-SCREEN DISPLAY{7}The display in the upper left corner
{7}keeps you appraised of health points
{7}and mana gems in your possession.

{4}HEALTH POINTS
{7}Each time Endrick or Elandra gets hit,
{7}he or she loses some health. Should
{7}one of them be reduced to zero, they
{7}will die, and you will have to
{7}restart the current level or restore
{7}a previously saved game.

{4}MANA GEMS
{7}These are used to power magic spells or
{7}artifacts. You can read more about them
{7}on the following page.{6}OBJECTS OF NOTE{4}MANA GEMS
{7}These can be found floating in the air
{7}throughout Mysteria. Elandra's fireballs
{7}each cost 1 Mana Gem to cast. Some magic
{7}artifacts cost certain numbers of these
{7}gems to activate.

{4}CONTAINER STATUES
{7}You will sometimes find hollow statues.
{7}Smash these with your weapon, because
{7}they usually contain useful items to
{7}aid your cause. To pick up an item or
{7}gem, just walk over it. NOTE: Slain

{7}These artifacts exact a cost in mana
{7}gems before they activate.

     {4}MAGIC SHIELD (Cost: 25 Gems)

     {7}blades, shredding anything that
     {7}comes near. Beware, the blades
     {7}wear out quickly!

     {4}INVINCIBILITY (Cost: 15 Gems)

     {7}for a few seconds. Be warned:
     {7}spike traps and crushing
     {7}weight remain deadly as ever!{6}MORE MAGIC ARTIFACTS     {4}DEATH BLAST (Cost: 25 Gems)

     {7}every enemy in sight. It's a
     {7}useful artifact for those
     {7}desperate situations.

     {4}POWER UP (Cost: 50 Gems)

     {7}but are well worth the effort
     {7}of finding them. They will
     {7}increase both characters'
     {7}weapon power. These do not
     {7}exist in Super Easy mode.{6}THINGS STARTING WITH "POI"{4}GET THE POINT!
{7}Score may be accumulated by gathering
{7}treasure. After every 10000 points,
{7}both characters' capacity for health
{7}points will increase by one, up to a
{7}maximum of five.

{4}POISONING
{7}In "Challenge" or "Psycho Warrior"
{7}difficulty modes, beware getting
{7}poisoned either by taking a hit by a
{7}poisonous enemy or by picking up a
{7}blue potion. A poisoned hero flashes
{7}blue and slowly takes damage.{6}HINTS FOR SUCCESS{4}SAVE YOUR GAME OFTEN
{7}You should save any time you're
{7}entering dangerous territory, so
{7}that if the heroes die, you can
{7}restore a saved game and try again
{7}from there, which is better than
{7}starting the level all over again.

{4}SURVIVING POISON
{7}To cure poison, the afflicted hero
{7}must pick up a red healing flask. If
{7}one isn't immediately available, change
{7}to the other hero until you find one.
{7}The poisoned hero will not take damage!{6}MORE HINTS FOR SUCCESS{4}KILL EVERYTHING
{7}The more enemies you defeat, the more
{7}treasure you collect, and the higher
{7}score you attain. Every 10000 points,
{7}the heroes' staminas will increase,
{7}improving their chances for survival.

{4}USE BOTH CHARACTERS
{7}Each has their own strengths and
{7}weaknesses, so learn what situations
{7}call for which hero, and be ready to
{7}change when necessary.
